We arrived in Adelaide with a week to explore and quickly found ourselves with two Metro passes in hand. We jumped on a train from the nearest station and headed into the city for a look around. We spent a morning wandering around the city centre, pausing for a coffee and a look round the South Australian Museum. I couldn’t help but compare Adelaide to Canberra and felt Adelaide had a nicer feel to it. There was a sense of natural progression to its development, with a variety of building styles and sizes giving a more interesting city skyline to admire. Canberra was too well planned and thought out, which in my opinion left it feeling rather empty and characterless still being young in age. I found the museum in Adelaide more enjoyable than Canberra’s, with more of the extinct native species on show and biological exhibits compared to the National Museum’s dedication to colonisation.
