The Barossa Valley is famous for its wine and so naturally we had to visit a winery. What I hadn’t realised before arriving here is that Jacob’s Creek is Australian, when buying wine at home I generally didn’t look at anything but the price and colour, I was saving to come to Australia after all. So when we saw that they had a visitor centre in the valley with a tour and tutored wine tasting we headed over one afternoon, driving over the actual Jacob’s Creek (though it was dry) to reach the centre. It was a lovely afternoon where we learnt about the history of the company and their wines, information about the grapes before trying some of the wines themselves. We tried a range of their wines, including a sparkling red, which we treated ourselves to a bottle of, along with a bottle of their sparkling Chardonnay Pinot Noir. These were our two favourites of the day (got to love bubbles) and are going to save them for a special meal when we are house sitting or longer if we can hold off!
