From Wagga Wagga the next planned stop was a town just inside Victoria called Mildura. This was 558km from Wagga and took us near six hours to complete. From here we had 317km to Nuriootpa in the Barossa Valley where we camped until our house sit began (more posts on this coming so stay tuned!). The drives went smoothly as we journeyed from town to town and we spent most of the time with the car on cruise control. Here the roads are so much wider than at home, straighter and the A20 was definitely quieter that we didn’t feel like we had to do an awful lot… just steer and hope a kangaroo doesn’t throw himself at you. With the car in cruise we would roll along happily, looking at the vast openness around us before coming across a land train or a driver that doesn’t believe in reaching even near the speed limit. Overtaking my first land train was a little scary and it was only two carriages (they can get up to 4 or 5 long so I’ll need to man up a bit) but I managed to overtake safely and then Jack got landed with the task of overtaking about six that had got bunched up in road works! The quality of these photos aren’t the best ever as we were too busy cruising to stop but here are a few from the journey.
