Our first stop on our journey was Australia’s capital Canberra. I have to admit before coming to Australia I was convinced Sydney was the capital as you hear so much more about it than Canberra. We had a hostel booked for the night and so were able to split our sight-seeing up over two days. Canberra was where we were going to try and pack in some culture, so we headed straight to the Parliament House to look around and have lunch before heading to the National Gallery, which showed a range of artwork from Aboriginal artists to Monet, to Warhol. We spent the rest of the day wandering around Canberra, which is a completely designed and planned city, before finding a table at the local “Labour Members Club” (a couple of dollars buys your entry) and watching the NRL game over dinner.
